The Unwise Choice.
Two young men when I was poor
Came and stood by my open door;
One said to me, “I have gold to gave,”
And one, “I will love you while I live.”
My sight was dazzled —woe’s the day!
Apd I sent the poor young man away;
Sent him away, I know not where,
And my heart went with him unaware
He did not give me any sighs,
But he left his picture in my eyes;
And In eyes it has always been;
I have no heart to keep it in!
'Beside the lane With hedges sweet,
Where we parted never more to meet.
He pulled a flower of love’s own hue,
And where if had been came out two!
And in the grass where he stood, for
years.
The dew of th’ morning looked like
tears.
Still smiles the house Where I was
bom
Among its fields oif wheat and com.
Wheat and corn that strangers hind
I reap as I sowed, and sowed as th’
wind.
And one who feels the truth break
through
Hi? dream, and knoiws his dream un
true.
I live Where splendors shine, and sigh
For the peace that splendor cannot
buy;
Sigh for the day I was rich tho’ poor.
And saw th’ two yoiung men at my
door.

The Brunswick girls who are at
the state normal school have written
letters to the Daughters of the Con
federacy of this city, asking them
to furnish a room tin the Winnie
Davis Memorial hall in Athens. The
domitorv of the normal is so crowded
that there are three or four students
in each room.. The Winnie Davis hall
Is completed but not furnished. The
Brunswick chapter should certainly
furnish one room, as many chapters
in the stale have undertaken to furn
ish two or three.
