day to raise the remainder of the
scholarship fund and for the choir
of St. Xavier’s church was a great
success. The ladies in charge worked
faithfully and deserved their success.
A nice sum was realized and the
ladies are deeply grateful to all those

HOT BEVERAGES.
What to Use in Place of Tea and Cof
fee.
Many drink tea and coffee against
their better judgement because they
require a hot drink at meal time.
They know that by the ise of tea
and coffee they are only drugging
themselves hue they struggle along
and continue to use one or the other.
To these people Postum Cereal Coffee
is a great help for many people find
well ibeiiled Postum superior in flavor
to coffee to ay nothing of its great
health restoring qualities.
The effect upon those who leave off
tea and coffee and take on Postum is
very marked lor the old time coffee
ails such as heart trouble, kidney
disease, nervousness a.ud other ills
soon disappear as 11 by magic. The
Postum makes new red blood and
this is shown in the rosy cheeks and
clear complexion that replace the
blotched sallow skin o£ the coffee
drin)veSr. A yelling school miss ot
Alva, Okia., says of Postum: “1 have
used it now over a year aud my com
plexion and general health show the
change. Before that time I drank tea
and coffee and my' complexion was
salloiw aud muddy. 1 also had almost
constant dull headaches. 1 realized
that I must give up tea and coffee but
hung onto them because 1 felt the
need of a hot drink at meal times.
“One day 1 heard Postum so well
spoken of I decided to try it aud 1
bless the day I did so. 1 dropped cof
fee and took up Postum an now my
dull headaches have disappeared, my
complexion is fresh and rosy, eyes
bright and mind clear. I sleep well
now aud 1 owe it all to using Postum
in place of coffee.
"The matron of the Young Ladies’
Boarding House at the Alva Normal
School has adopted Postum as a stand
ard drink as she is positive the stu
dents study and get along hotter on
postum t-iian on any other drink.
“A lady friend of mine had a son
who was a nervous wreck due, so his
doctor said, to coffee. The lady tried
Postum and the young man relished it
so he drank it in preference to coffee
and in a few weeks he was like an en
tirely new person. 1 Know of lots
more cases too." Name given by l’os

Do Good—lt Pays.
A Chicago man has observed that
“Good deeds are better than real es
tate deeds—some of the latter are
worthless. Act kindly and gently,,
show sympathy and lend a helping]
hand. You cannot possibly lose by
it.” Most men appreciate a kind word
and encouragement more than sub
stantial help. There are persons in
this community who might truthfully
say: “My good friend, cheer up. A
few doses of Chamberlain’s Cough
Remedy will rid you of your cold, and
