Hon- Emory Bperr has designated The Brunswick Dally News as the official organ of the United States Court, In bankruptcy proceedings, for Glynn county. TELEPHONE 108. PUBLIBHEH3 NOTICE. T„e News Publishing Company de sires It to be distinctly understood that all legal advertisements must be paid ior in advance. We cannot af ford to devote our space to sucb an vertiseroents and wait on the courts the money. Well Senator Platt did take "Jane way” diilnt he? But do excuse us for this. Some politicians who are looking for harmony really are in search of hominy. A hide-bound political faction Is a mighty poor origin for unadulterated harmony. It looks like a genuine caso of bluff that Russia and Japan are handing out to us. North Bind South Carolina seem to he vicing with each other in the mat ter of liberating murderers. The fellow that writes a long lot ter to "ato(|) the paiier at once” thinks ho la putting the whole concern out of business. But lie is only doing the pressman a good turn. Harry Lehr, the leader of the New York four hundred, has gone to wearing rings with bangles on them. Balls with chains would he more lie coming. if contain citizens and isdiUciaus i„ Brunswick really want hermony they go alter it very much as did the man who was huntlue for a jb a 1 " 1 at the same time praying to the lain not to find it- 1„ the death or Gov. H. L. Mitchell, the people of the slate of Florid, have lost one of their best and l''<r cut men. The governor helmgd to that old school of southern, gentle men, was modest, retiring and brainy and his place in the hearts of b. people will net he easily South Carolina has added another black spot to Iter es.-utbeon, excell ing in brutality tuul lsiiomy the treat ment f the late lamentetl Wade Hampton. Hut this throttling of Justice cannot last always and Tillman, the co-ward that he is. will set retribu tion, oven if it has to he delayed uur til the great Master deals it out to him. -r - LETS GO TO THE FAIR. The slate fair in Macon is drawing right up to us. Lots go and so- the greatest exhi bition of the kind that Georgia has had in many years. it seems that Glynn coiunty, as usual is not going to make au exhibit and that is all the more reason why' the p op,* should attend the lair and at ~M ' 1 1 courage the enterprise with our pres ence. Micon's hustling and energetic eit izetis have devoted their bo-d offer to the success of tie- iH'ojoct and il is s ac to predict that It will be one ol the most intorerting affairs m the kind ever given in the vtatr of Geor gia. Macon is a gem of a little city, lroi people are large hearted, sociable and hospitable and her latch strings will be on the outside for all comers with assurance of a warm Welcome when the threshold is crossed Indeed let go to the fair. THE TILLMAN CASE. The verdict in the Tillman case did not surprise many people here in Brunswick and as a matter of fact It is very doubtful if the verdict was a surprise In any section of the coun try, where the political situation in the state of South Carolina is under stood. Twenty four hours aftor the murder, : the mandate was start out that Till- J man would not be punished for his crime, one of the most cowardly in the criminal annal of the state or South Carolina. The announcement was accepted by the people generally, ■ j for the entire country, or that is this section of it realizes how throroughly the state is under the dominancy of the Tillman family. Stilll it is a great pity, aye a shame, that any condition of a political na ture should obtain, whereby the maj esty of the law and the sacred pre cincts of the jury box can be in vaded and torn Into miserable threads of pretense, as lias boon the erano with this trial, or mockery. However, a Jury of Ills peers have said that J. H. Tillman In shooting to death an un armed man, in the streets of a well lioputaitod city is guilty of no crime and we suppose we will have to ac cept the decree, but we are afraid the end is riot vet In sight, for justice, like truth crushed, will very often rise to strike its fxaducers. But, alas! Pooir Gonzales 1> dead. The facile pen wielded at all times for the right against the wrong is silent, the voice that ran.?: out in clarion tones for the betterment of hla people and his state is hushed for ever, and hi mrderer goes unpunish ed. Indeed, the imscrutibility of fate! If the horses in the great show in Atlanta have us much trouble keeping their harness oil straight no will the ladies with their hats, both will ho busy. Chairman Aiken of the white pri mary meeting announces hl.s “execu tive committee’ in this morning's ls huo of the News. Without entering into a prolonged discussion ol' the committee at this time, we simply ask the people of the city to note its political complexion, as between the two factions and then get a search light and see if you tun find the first wye of harmony.
