Society Friday evening in the reception risen of the Baptist church a most enjoyable reception was held in hon or of the pastor, Rev. W. M. Gilmore, 1 and his charming bride. A musical program was prepared for the occas ion participated in by Mesdames Por ter, Taylor, Wallace, Lee, Blanton,. Misses Waff and Elliott and Messrs. Blanton, Bailey, McCleary and' La- Mam-." After a pleasant conversa tional hour refreshments were served by fhe ladies of the congregation. The guests were almost entirely all members of the congregation of which Mr. Gilmore is the beloved pastor. Congratulations and best wishes were showered on the young people and the evening was one of great pleasure. Mrs. J. W. Thomas entertained de lightfully yesterday in honor of Mrs. Edwin Brobston, who is soon to leave Brunswick to make her home in Jack sonville. The house was beautifully decorated witli chrysanthemums and palms and the entertainment was well planned to afford the greatest pleasure to those who were honored with an invitation, fluchre was played after which delightful refreshments were served. The prizes were won as fol lows: First prize, china bonbon dish was won by Mrs. Sparks and present ed to Mrs. Brobston; second, a silver andlostidk, Mrs. H. W. Gale; conso lation, cut glass cologne bottle, Mrs. R. R. Hopkins. Mrs. Brobston was presented with a gold souvenir spoon liy the hostess. Those present were: Mesdames E. Brobston, J. F. Baya, J. W. Shortly after 8 o’clock last night a telephone message called the fire de partment out to Cochran avenue and the fire was located in a small house occupied by J. S. Delaney, colored. The fire caught from a defective flue and had done its work before help could arrive.
