We cannot at ford to devote our space to such ad virtisementa and wait on the courts ’cr the money. It is “gobefore” the registrars now. The weather man seems to be mere ly experimenting. Gainesville, Ga., seems to have an entire regiment of Carrie Nations. The waste basket is mostly used in the newspaper office. And it makes many enemies. Some men do not know themselves and we can't blame them lor not seeking an acquaintance. Brunswick has been somewhat shy on fall weddings this year, is dear little Cupid getting lazy? We will wait with interest to hear tsvhttt General Obear has to say about our military organizations. A Florida editor lias purchased an automobile. The Georgia editors do well to own a wheelbarrow. it is stated that $2,000.1)00 was won by the backers of Tammany in the recent New York election. Better streets and raids on gamb ling houses. You tan always tell when an election is near at hand. Bridges Smith has about an easy time getting the Macon mayorallty as Bacon does the Georgia senator ship. .L.. Whether the merchants kick or not about dull business the city court lias no kick coming. Heaping a havest, us it were. A man should be able to get a pure milk punch in Atlanta now with a pure milk add whiskey crusade on at I lie same time. Some of editors are giving advice? "Ilow to live in lid* Century." We will doubtless learn before we strike the next. "A Fool and His Money” will be presented at the Grand shortly Way cross should send down a good dele gation to witness the performance. THE RESULT OF FAIRS. The /airs in Georgia have all about closed, and every one of them has been a smjpess. Atlanta, Macon, Savannah, Athena. Mill many other cities over the state have had fairs, carnivals or amuse ments of some kind during the past month or two. In every instance the affairs have been a success and have served fco greatly assist the community In which they were given. It brings many visitors to a city, who, while there, look at the advantages ofllered and in this way decide to cast their lot there. There is no doubt of the fact that the fair given in Bruiswick two or three years ago, besides being a great success, was of great value to the city. . There is no reason why we should not again have one just us success ful. We have the fair grounds, which, with a very little work, can be put in first class condition. .Lets begin work now on a fair for next year; keep working on it and When the time comes have one that will be excelled by. no c*her in the ENCOURAGING OUTLOOK. The National Convention of Bankers which lias been in session in San Francisco, takes a cheerful view of the situation which does not seem unwar ranted. The president of the Illinois Ban ker’s Association concisely states the real situation as follows in speaking of Wall street: "The losses have fallen on those who have speculated In watered stock. The disturbed conditions in Wall db not indicate any serious trouble in the hanks throughout the country. The worst of it being over, the future is all the more encouraging." tCommenting upon the tone of op timism that pervaded the bankers’ mooting, the Nashville American says: "Ttu; bountiful crops and the de mand from abroad for Amei lean pro ducts mean prosperity for the farmer and the bringing of large sums of; money into this country. The hankers take an optimistic view of the situa tion. Retrenchment in the industrial world, however, and the discharge of j large numbers of workmen will efToct some change in the conditions which have been prevailing for the past three years, during which time every body who wanted work has been em ployed." Altogether the outlook is most en couraging. The democrats /would rather see Hanna president than Roosevelt, but they would rather have the present occupant of the white house nomi nated by the republicans. The Columbus Enquirer-Sun is out with its annual trade edition, which consists of sixty pages aud which is one of the best papers ever issued from a Georgia newspaper office.
