T-e News Publishing Company de elres It to be distinctly understood that “J 1 legal advertisements unis! be paid for in advanco. We cannot af ford to devote our space to such ad vertlsements and wait on the courts ’or the money. The Florida senatorial race Is still furnishing subjects for the Florida cartoonists. The present political scramble will soon be over. Aiul this is really a thing to be thankful for. It looks very much like the great Presbyterian college Is to be estab lished ami Atlanta is going to get it. •There is s none tiling very strungo about the fact that Senator Tillman has not “broke out" lately. Some thing must be wrong. While other cities and towns in the state are working for new indus triii'i, we down hero all seem to be devoting our time to politics. Reports say that the trials for the Kisheneflf massacres will be one great farce comedy. This is belter than the public expected. We did not look for even mock trials. , In these times of industrial booms there is no use in losing your eyeg Sight looking for work, it is every where and consequently is not hard fo find. it is really a great pleasure to read the editorial page of the Atlanta News and the entire paper for that mat i ter Hut the editorial part is certainly a most pleasing feature. You may think, cattle raising a hobby with us because wo talk about it so much but we know what we are talking about when we say there is a fortune in this business. It looks like the hotel for St. Si mon and the new depot for Atlanta hate Joined hands and decided to re main one <tf those uncertain things we are continually running up against in this lifer. The city council should enforce the ordinance which requires the property owners in certain sections to keep the waller in front of their premises in good condition. On some of our principal streets the sidewalks are a disgrace to the community. The merchant who begins his holi day advertising now will get the most 'business. There are many who do not wait until Chistmas eve to do their holiday shopping but avoid the rush and select their goods at their leisure. The advertiser, right about this time, will certainly catch this trade. \Yc have received *u announcement from Cod. Strickland, of Griffin, to the effect that he would be a candidate lor prison commissioner to succeed the jireseut incumbent whose term expires next year, J. S. Turner. We are not personally acquainted with Mr. Strict laud but we sincerly hope he will be Rblc to land. That it a good scheme of the friends pi Rooseielt to get Hanna out of the way by a great outburst of applause and enthusiasm looking toward his reelectlou as chairman of the republi can committee but we ihiuk the old man from Ohio has too much sense to let his mental inferior, Roosevelt catch him with a scheme. If Hanna jrants the republican nomination for president, in out judgement, he can cet it. ' THE BURGLAR SEASON. Of course you ere able to take care of your money and valuables You do not need warning. But it Is always the other tellow who Is care less. This Is the burglar season, alsoi the harvest time for the hold up man and the housebreaker. The science of it has not been entirely explained, but stealing seems to be raore popular just when winter begins to draw near. it is a great satisfaction, when the midnight intruder awakens you with the dig of a muzzle of a gun in your face to heebie to talk truthfully. Few men are skilled liars when the chills are running up and down their spines. If yon can tell the burglar that you have no money, or only a few dollars in the house, and if it, is true you will probably get off with the loss of a few household goods and your watch and you will te mighty glad that you kept your spare money in the bank instead of hidden under the carpet or tucked behind a picture on the wall. And it is well to keep doors locked ed and the windows barred. Locks and bars will not keep an expert thief out but there are few expert thieves. Most of the crpolts are burglars, lg norent and clumsy. They are gener ally amateurs and it does not require much In the way of obstructions to discourage them in their efforts at housebreaking. The man who goes out at night dis playing valuables and large sums of money is tempting fate. When the cold begins to sting, the class of hobos who make hold-up men drift into the cities. , It is a good policy to keep your money in the bank and your watch out of sight, bolt the doors of yaur house and forget that burglars exist. TEACHERS ARE WANTED. Never before has there been such a demand for teachers says the Jack sonville Metropolis. Especially is this true in the states of the south. Thu demand is a very encouraging ojne to the l|rieuds education as it demonstrates that the children are going to school and that the value of learning is mure ap preciated than ever before. The paper takes this as another Indication of bet ter times. BANKRUPTCY NOTICE. STATE OF GEORGIA, COUNTY OF GLYNN. Under and by virtue of an order granted by the Honorable A. H.
