The weather for Christmas accord ing to the forecast will be fair and warm. The large turkey raffled at Arnhei- 1 ter’s butcher shop last night was won by O. A. Ralston. A dime museum has opened up in the Dillon building and enjoyed a good business list night. A large shipment of turkeys arrived in the city yesterday and there were plenty to supply the local market. The hanks, postofflce and other pub liec buildings will be closed today. The stores will probably all close at noon. Tbe merchants of the city who sell fireworks report a heavy sale, and there will be a number of bonfires in the city tonight. Interesting services will be held in the different churches today, and at one or two of them special musical programs will be rendered. The postofflce and express office were the scene of unusually busy times yesterday and both the places were rushed with Christmas packa ges. . I ! There was an unusually large num ber of country visitors in the city yesterday doing their Christmas shop ping. Most of them came from points along the B. & B. The committee appointed by Col. W. E. Kay several days ago will meet early next week and arrange to solicit subscriptions for the Georgia building at St. Louis. It is thought that quite a neat sum will be subscribed by Brunswick.
