We cannot afford to devote our opaco to ouch adver tisements and wait on tho courts for tha money. Resolutions will now be the order of tho day. The entoprlalnk merchant is now ad vertising bis after Christmas specials. This weather reminds us of many of .the ll|iunswtclt politicians—very changeable. The Memphis Commercial-Appeal thinks that it is only President Roose velt's war with Columbia. When some of the local ollieials get Into lae new public building they will have o b„\e their hats made to order. Tae year IMO3 will certainly he a rd-breaker for railroad accidents and tae number ol lives lost in them. It looks like 1303 is endeavoring to give as a touch of winter, summer, spring and auturnu before it passes away. If :994 will give Brunswick a good library building, an electric street car line, and a guoi bc*>i*ital building, we stiilti all t>e satisfied. Atlanta tailed tills year to Lave a genuine Sanaa.'.; eon t> send out on Christmas, altc- <ugi tiii pap’.-rs tried hard tor one. All Georgia should ..n .a ani as sist In securing a buiM.r.g tor the state at the big tit. Louis faur. South Gv-.w gia has already demonstrated tun she will do her full share. At least one editor was in luck Christmas. Hugh A. Mullen ,cme of the proprietors of the Philadelphia Sunday World, was instantly killed by being struck by a train, while holding anew $5,000 accideut insurance policy in his pocket. From the manner in which the re publicans are sidestepping proposed legislation by this congress, says the .Washington Post, it must be inferred they are convinced that they will have load enought to carry neat year witb assuming additional burden*. BIG POLITICAL DINNER. Democrats and republicans alike In all sections of the country are watch ing with more than ordinary interest the dinner to be given by the New York democrats on January 4 in honor 'of Mayor George McClellan. It will be a notable event. It is expected that utterances will be made on that occa sion which will have important bear ing on the next presidential cam paign. The keynote of the fight will Ihe sounded. It is probable that, other things that the eatables will be uncov ered at that dining. The democratic nominee for president may he pro duced. I Such notahes as Grover Cleveland. 1 ex-United States Senator David B. Hill Senator A. P. Gorman, Chief Justice J A. B. Parker, John C. Carlisle, Wil- j liam C. Whitney and other prominent democrats and celebrated, party lead- ' |ers will be present. Hearst will be j there, and of course, McClellan, the guest of honor. Speeches will be made | by some of them % Ex-President Clevo land has consented to speak, and the nation will wait with much Interest | the words that will fall from his lips. In this toterie of distinguished men there will probaly be found the next ! democratic standard hearer. It is a!- | most useless to think of any man out side of this group as a presidential possibility in 1904. Whom will that banquet evolve to lead the hosts of democracy? Goorman? Parker? Cleve land? Hearst? McClellan? The eastern democrats will get to gether at the McClellan dinner. This is, no douot. the real purpose of the dining—alove feast —as it were. Es itrangement has loug existed between Cleveland and Hill, and as they have accepted invitations to be present, they Will doubtless agree around the festal board to a reconcilliation for ■the success ef the party. Tammany will be a prominent figure at the banquet. This great oorganiza tion realize tho fact that the democ racy of the nation is relying upon it to carry New York state next year for the democratic candidate lor pres ident. Without New Y'ork state there is uo hope for democratic success. Tammany does not intend that any mistakes shuli be made at the McClel lan dinner if it can prevent it. Tam maju is. for victory in 191) 1. It is. safe to shy that no discordant note will be sounded at the dinner. The New Y'ork Sun says that Hon. Grover Cleveland is the most con spicuous citizen of I‘riuceton. lie has accepted an invitation to a dinner in honor of our next mayor. The gun says this makes the refusal of the Princeton club in New York to do the right thing look even more foolish than it did at the time. The year which is now fast drawing to a dose has been one of tho must ppoHiierous in Brunswick’s .history In every directiun there has been a greater commercial expansion, and as the sun of 1903 last goes towards the horizon of Time, Brunswick turns its face towards the rosy dawn of J 904 with pleasant memories of the past and greater anticipation fur the fu ture.
