Correspondence solicited: but to receive attention, letters must be ac companied by a responsible name, not jUTESW as a guarar WE ARE PLEASED. The News Is very much gratified at the report of the special committee appointed by Mayor Crovatt to Investi gate the alleged cases of the aldermen who in the past have been contracting with the city. The members of the committee have apparently given the subject considera ble attention and the report is all that could have been expected by the people of the city. Asa matter of fact the News has never believed that any member of the present city council hae wantonly dis present city ordinance of trailieed with the city for ulterior purposes, but it did know that the law in question was being violated ar.d for that reason it directed the attenion of the council to the matter. I The report of the co'inmittee was a substantial endorsement of the atti tude of The News and we are pleased that the council has seen fit to accept the committees report and to especial ly provide that In future members of the council Interested In commercial enterprises will not contract or other •wise do business with the city for these concerns. The spirit of this ordinance is sound. It doe3 noiot contemplate that mem bers of council will for self aggranj dlzement take advantage of their po sltions in the council, THE BRUNSWICK DAILY NEWS, THURSDAY, DECEMBER 81, 180$.
