A SPLENDID LEGISLATURE
The Georgia legislature, which ad

as one of the most diligent and active

Discussing its work the Atlanta
Georgian has the following splendid
editorial on the subject;
"The legislature whose life expires
by limitation on Wednesday uext will
close Its session amid applause uuo
respect of the people of Georgia.
"It Is doubtful If a better or more

ever assembled In Georgia sluce the

and rapidly in progressive spirit to
the approaching conclusion.
"There has scarcely been a s- anion
in which more work was accoiaplisn

consumed in talk and speeches. The
measures which the legislature ii„
rejected are few In number and some
of them may yet be ena- ted into law.;
before the gavel falls on Wcdne,
day’s closing session. Of course tie
body has not been above criticism —
as few bodies ever are —but in urai.i
the legislature of 1900 may be char
acterized as a body of more than or
dinary arbllity, of great industry and
definiteness, and of a distinctly form

"Among the good things the body

"It has touched the spirit of our

"It has responded to a need of the

for the election of railroad < oinmh

"It has answered for Georgia the
appeal of our dear sister of Virginia
by an appropriation to represent the
state at the Jamestown exposition ov
1907 and it has been prompt and g, ii

of our educational institutions.
"It has now in final and we trust
favorable consideration, the Hall-Can

auditor hill, of the Gordon monument
appropriation for $15,000, of the pure
food bill and of tiie Wheatley Hill for

"It has also under wh"t we I rust
