SOME INFORMATION OF VALUE
TO THE PUBLIC CONCERNING
POSTOFFICE RULES.
The postoffice department is send
ing out its circular Xo. a45, which u
lat< s to the character of advertising
the department lias prohibited from
appearing in news: apors and periodi
cals that go through the mails. Th
circular is interesting and is as fi,
lows:
"The attention of postmasters ami
railway postal clerks is directed to
Section 459 of the Postal Laws an 1

ions of which newspapers or other
publications of any kind, circulars and

of lotteries, gilt concerts or similar
enterprises for the distribution o.

in which prizes are distributed among
purchasers of merchandise in stated
amounts, or among subscribers for
publications, or for shares of cor
porate stock, through the medium oi
drawings or guessing contests, are
lotteries within the meaning of that
section. Publications, circulars, earns
or pamphlets containing advertise
ments of such enterprises, or notices
or other information of any kind re
lating to them, should he withdrawn
from the mails and treated in accord
ance with Sections 575, 005 and tI:M
of the Postal Laws and Regulations.

DECISION LOOKED

SON-PUTNAM CASE WILL

It. 13. Meatier, who months ago was
appointed auditor to hear the evidence
in the case of K. A. Putnam, et al. vs.
Mrs. Viola Johnson, will iri the course
of a few days file his report in the
superior court of this county, and it
is expected that the report will he
quite tin interesting one.
The case has been on the dockets
for several years, but has never been
di post and of. A few weeks ago the
attorneys at interest met in this city
and finished argument in the case and
it was at that time announced that a
report, would he rendered by the audit
or during the early part of November.
The brick block on Monk street,
between Oglethorpe and Grant, and
other valuable city property, is in
volved in tne case.
