SOUTHERN HAS
NEW DIVISION
ITS FSTABLISHMENT WILL MEAN
BETTER SERVICE ON THIS
END OF LINE.
The establishment of anew divis
ion of the Southern railway, with the
superintendent's headquarters in
Macon, will mean much for Bruns
wick as well as all stations on the
line between Macon and Brunswick.
Heretofore the 'line of the Southern
from Atlanta to Brunswick and Jack
sonville, has been under the same
superintendent as the line from At
lanta to Chattanooga, and therefore
this section of the road has not re
ceived the proper attention, and it is
believed that the establishment of the
new division will bring about many
iieede' 1 improvements on the line be
tween Macon and Brunswick.
The following from the Macon
News of yesterday will be of inter
est in this city generally, for the rea
son that Brunswick is in the new:
division of the Southern railway, over
which Snip. Kagan will preside:
Mr. F. J. Kgan, who has just been
transferred to the office of superin
tendent of the lately created Macon |
division of the Southern railroad, ar
rived in Macon this morning and r.
now engaged in getting ready for the J
opening of the new offices. Chief j
Clerk Garrett, of the new Macon di
vision, is also in Macon and together
with Mr. Kagan, plans tor the open
ing will he prepared at once.

will consist of at least ten men. Su
perintendent Kgan and Chief Clerk
Garrett included. On Monday last
Mr. Egan was in Macon looking over
some offices in the Grand building aim
these will !be taken provided the
offices adjoining can be secured.
In Macon today Mr. Egan has been
greeted by many friends who heartily
congratulated him upon his recent
transfer to Macon. At one time Mr.
Egan was trainmaster for the South
ern road in Macon and in Georgia to
day there is not a more popular di
vision superintendent.
The new division is composed of
the lines between Atlanta and Jack
sonville, Atlanta and Brunswick, At
lanta and Fort Valley and from Coch
ran to Hawkinsville.
