2 A BIG INCREASE 111 REGISTRATION POLITICIANS AT WORK y AND MANY VOTERS ARE .'QUALIFYING. j/ / There has been a decided increase In the number of people registering during the present week, and before tomorrow night it is thought, that at least. four hundred voters will be qualified to participate in the ap proaching white primary. Yesterday, it is said, more voters registered than on any day since the opening of the books nearly three weeks ago, and even a larger number Is expected to qualify today. This rush of the voters to the regis tration books is due, probably, to the efforts of the politicians who are now out. after their friends to register, and the principal question to be heard on the streets these daye is, "Have you registered?” In a few days men will be scouring the city looking for tnose who have not qualified to go and do so. Many people believe that there will be more white people qualified to vote this year than ever before, and it would not be surprising to see the total reach near the thousand mark. The campaign promises to be an interesting one, and with the many new people in the city, who are now entltlod to vote, the registration is expected to lie a record-breaker. Strangers in Brunswick yesterday who were not aware of the tact that Brunswick sportsmen turn out in num bers on spring tines to shoot marsh bens, evidently thought that, a mimic war was being waged across the river and many of them were heard to ask the question, “What is all that shoot ing about?” People along the river front plainly hear the bom bardment across the river. The bat ttle of Port Arthur alone could com pare with the continuous discharge iu the nearby creeks yesterday. it was the highest spring tide of the season and it ia estimated that no less than two hundred people were out after the fishy game. Every small boat In the harbor was pressed into service, and the scarcity of boats alone kept many other shooters from going out. The marshes were entirely covered by the high tide and it is impossible to estimate how many of the birds were killed. However, it' is believed tnat not less than two thousand were bagged during the day. Many of the shooters quit using guns, and mur dered with oars, so plentiful were they. Every party that went out returned with anywhere from 2fa to 100 birds, and all of Brunswick enjoyed marsh hens for supper last night. A cold is much more easily cured when the bowels are open.
