CHANGES IN THE
INSURANCE LAWS
KNIGHTS OF PYTHIAS HELD AN
INTERESTING MEETING
IN ORLEANS.
New Orleans, Oct. 19. —The tmpor
taut business of the Knights of Py
thias’ convention was reached today.
The supreme lodge was scheduled first
to take up the e.ection of officers,
and it was hoped to reach consid
eration of the proiiosed revision of
Pythias insurance laws. These pro-
posals as oumned by John M. Adams,
of Fort Worth, Texas, secretary of
the special committee on endowment
rank, give to the members of this
rank the same security as old line
insurance companies, including about
the same reserves, paid up and ex
tended insurance eonrpanios, making
of policies incontestable after three
rears. It is not proposed to change
the old fourth clause with its *1,500,-
000 surplus provision, but the privi
lege will tie offered each menvoer
to come into the new rank.
Another important provision is that
of uniting the Rathbone and Pythian
sisters. *
