His friends are glad to know that he is rapidly convalescing. The friends of Miss Thompson, who taught school here a number of years ago, and of her niece. Miss Alice Thompson, will learn with .in terest that the latter has been elect ed to the chair of chemistry in Mt. Holyoke Seminary In Massachusetts. Knight were complimented with a delightful sur prise party last, evening by (their children and neighbors, the occasion being in honor of their twentieth wedding anniversary. The guests be gan to arrive at 8 o'clock, each brining a lovely gift of china tor the host and hostess. Later on elaborate refreshments arrived and a delight ful evening was enjoyed by all pres ent.
