THE OGLETHORPE IMPROVE
MENTS.
Klaewhere In Tin* News this morn
ing will too found an outline of the
plans now In hand for the re
modeling of the Ugiemoi >—*i
which is bound to prove Thtereatlng
to the people of Brunswick. For
years and years thin city has suffered
and suffered materially for the lack
of a good hotel: a hotel wherein the
man of means ear get tne service
for which he is ready and willing to
pay und which at the same time is
placed within the reach of the grca>
body of commercial men, who gener
ally want the beijt there Is.
The expenditures, including new
furniture from top to bottom, wl!
aggregate a cool hundred thonsanu
dollars, and General Freight Agent
MeFaddon, under whose guidance the
work Is to done, says there will be
no superior to the Oglethorpe in
all the south. He also Informs The
News that the work of repairing will
commence at the earliest possible mo
ment and will be rushed to comph
Hon as rapidly as material and men
ean do the work. As we said before
the iieople of Brunswick have long
wanted an up-to-date hostelry and
now that they are going to have it
under the management of the bes
team of hotel men In the country,
they are indeed to he congratulated
and should co-operate with Messrs
Harvey amt Wood in every move
they make looking to the one de
sired result. These gentlemen are
managers of a chain ol the best ho
tils In the country, they know the
business from the kitchen to the of
fice, and If the people of Brunswick
will he patient, they will at an early
date see a hotel in Brunswick that
would do credit to a city twice its
st/e, Mr, Wood, one of the lessees,
was in the city yesterday securing
views, pictures, etc. of the various
points of interest in Brunswick, to
be used on the regular tourist ad
, vortising this season which inci
dentally will give Brunswick a class
ol advertising In sections of the conn
try where it will do her great good.

for jail purposes t a disgrace to this
community and the only wonder Is
that those unfortunate enough to
cross its portals ever emerge again
In this lift'. It Ik unsanitary to a

$25,000 to properly complete the new

Here is a suggestion we have to
