U. S. RECRUITING STATION HERE!
So i-wti the strenuous was depart
ment of Fnele Sam has realized the
Importance of Brunswick and estab- j
lish*d a permanent recruiting station!
in this city. The government i- gen
erally slow in stationing represent;! j
itves of its several departments in:
growing cith sand they never do so j
unless warranted : y the actual eon- j
ditions and its actions is always one
of the best indications that the city
to which the representative is accord
ed is growing at a rapid rate and is
looked upon as having a promising fu
ture.
While the coming of the recruiting
force does not mean a very great
thing for Brunswick it docs bring two
new families to the'city and with in
cidentals in the way of pay for ser
vices of physicians . railroad fares
to points where recruits are sent, of
flee expenses, etc it will foot up sev
eral thousand dollars per year Hut
the lesson to he deducted from the
establishment of this office in this
city Is the fact that Brunswick is
not only attracting the eye of the cap
itaist and the invostoi hut the federal
government is keeping in close touch
on the progress of the city and is
sending to it departmental represen
tatives as rapidly as Its growth and
progress warrants.
The News understands that the city
is seriously thinking of establishing
a sergeant of police. Thats a good
idea and there are several members
of the presem force who have been tr>
