Bay street and advised his friend,
Jesse Aldredge, who rooms next door,
that he was shot, and that Mrs. Daven

Windsor park and that Davenport had
done the shooting. Mr. Aldredge says
that Brown was perfectly collected in
narrating his harrowing story and told
him that he had walkcdWbut to the
park with Mrs. Davenport; that they
had found a tryst ing place near the
park and after having ibeen there for
some time Davenport, apeared on the
scene with a revolver.

At 3,15 o'clock this morning it was
learned that Davenport had just been
arrested by Officers Owens and Goins.

A News reporter hastened to the coun
ty jail and had an interview with him.

on Newcastle street, from 8,30 o’clock
up to the time of his arrest.

“The man slipped up the ditch and
shot me. I then made like i had a
pistol and asked Mrs. Davenport to

The resolution particularly specified

not be construed as granting the fact
that the Mutual Light and Water
Company lias any contract, franchise
or right to continue the use of the
streets of Brunswick in the conduct
of its business.
In this connection it may he of in
terest to say that its contract wih the
light and wafer company ended Octo

certain amount on rates deemed equita
ble by the city

of director of public works was pass

Remains Shipped to Gainesville
The remains of Philip B. Gaines,
whose death occurred Tuesday morn

terment will occur today. Several
relatives of the deceased arrived in
the city yesterday morning and accom
panied the body to Gainesville.

occupy the entire office portion of tlie
depot. The force of workmen are now
businly engaged in completing the first,
story of the building and it is under
stood that as soon as Agent Trotter
moves into Ills office trains will arrive
and depart front the new depot. Work
nas practically been completed on the
depot portion of the structure and by
the end of the week the entire, lower
lloor will be finished. It is expected
that Mr Trotter will remove on

The second story of the depot will

it is not probable, however, that the
offices will be removed from the opera

Court Yesterday Morning.
J. Huffman, who conducts a cloth
ing store on Bay street, in the build

yesterday morning charged with vio
lating the lie: use ordinance.
It fieents that Hoffman paid fills

also conducting a pawnshop for which

He plead not guilty to the charge but
