Fayetteville, N. O. March 4.—ln a
fight near this city this afternoon he
tween a number of revenue officers

killed, and Iwo other’s were mortally

Learning where the distillery wa.
located Uie officers started out from
ere this morning to capture t.he ilis
t ilers. The negroes, it seems were on
'heir guard, and as soon as they dis
overed the revenue officers they
opened fire, almost before the officers
realized that they were In sight, ol
the distillery. Two of the officers
.veriMiit by Ihe first volley fired by
the negroes and one of them fell
dead. The third officer ret urned Ihi
fire, but he was toon shot down. The
negroes then escaped.
It is stated that the two other rev
enue officers will die fretn theii
wounds.
