The postmaster has been notified
that a special series of stamps in
three denominations to commemorate
the founding of Jamestown in 1007
and to be known as the Common
wealth series, will be Issued begin
ning April 15, and will be Hor sale
to the public from that date until
the closing of the Virginia exposition
November 25.
The stampH will 'be of the one cent
two cents and five cents variety.
The first, will be illustrated with a
picture of Captain John Smith, who
was prominently identified with the
history of Jamestown. The second
will have an illustration of Janies
town as it was when first seen by
White men. On the five cent kino
will he an engaving of Pocahontas
the Indian girl who saved the life
of Captain John Smith and later
married him. They will be printed 1
in differen^colors.
