Brunewlok, G
Teddy's bunch of liars Is growing
day by dayy.
Those alienists of Jerome seem to
be ailing themselves.
That pipe dream of Teddy’s con-
wectlng up Hrarst, Harrlman aad
Rockefeller Is a peach.
The progressive people of Glynn
county ought to turn out In numbers
and carry that bond election on Ap
-111 AO. ■*
The Ohio river Is overflowing In
Kentucky. But what do the JOen
tucky people caro about water any
how.
Strikes us that city council Is mov
ing along pretty slowly on that pro
lel t to open the foot of Gloucester
street.
Those twenty-two policemen who
have been Bred ofT the Atlanta po
lice force can find plenty of work
here In Brunswick.
Glynn county Is going to have one
of the handsomest court houses in
the state, when completed. The
building la beginning to show up In
good shape.
If the next grand Jury will Indict
aome of these fellows who go around
constantly with a pistol tn their
pockets we will have less murders
snd killings In this community.
Whats matter with the Atlantic
band getting a move on and accom
panying the Riflemen to the James
town showflt would be a splendid
advertisement for Brunswick.
WABTEFUL ACCIDENTS.
The recent frightful wreck on the
Missouri Pacific, In which thirty
people were instantly killed and a
hundred injured, call for a little ser
ious consideration of the conditions
under which railroad travel Is too
generally made in this country. The
leading facts are that a heavily load
ed passenger train was going at a
tremendous speed over a section of
track which had switches liable to
be left open 'by accident or neglect,
that the train was made up of a lot
of cheap, fragile wooden cars in
front and powerful Pullmans behind
The result was that the Pullmans
pushed the flimsy wooden cars up
against the mall cars and then
crushed and ground them to splint
ers.
Recent Investigations show that
the loss of life and damage to limb
by the railroads in this country are
ten to fifty times as great as in
Europe under comparatively similar
rates of speed.
In this particular lntsance the
blame bos been placed upon a switch
man who faile dto close a switch
after a local engine had passed
th ough. Such regulations should b a
observed as will make such acct
from such causes.
