and William Brown, both of whom

tried uy aid him by throwing water

toratives They all failed however,

scene of the killing. Strange to say
the matter was not reported to the
city until late In the afternoon and
as soon as Sheriff Boirie was :fi
vised. 4 o'clock, he sent u deputy to
the scene of the killing.

to determine whether or not the
county will Issue bonds in :be sum
of $76,000 to be used for the purpose
of building anew county jail and
for paying for and completing the
handsome new court house now un
der construction In Magnolia park.
There Is a strong demand for the
carrying of the election for bonds
for it will obvla.e the necessity for
a tax levy and double taxation nejf
year.
In this connection ths following
statement fom the Glynn county
commissi ners, will ibe of In ereat:
To the Voters of Glynn County:
You have no doubt been advised
from the newspaper publications
that an election will be held on
Thursday, April 18th. to determine
Jfre her or not bonds In the sum ol'
$76,000 shall be voted. Of this
amount, if bonds are authorized,
$60,000 is to lie used in completing
and furnishing the court house, and
$E5,000 in- the construction of a
jail. The total ost of the con
struction of the court house, tnclua
ing furniture, architect's feets, im
provement of grounds, etc., will be
about $125,000. The commissioners
are gratified io say that of this
amount the sum of $75,000 has been
accumulated but it is necessary to
borrow- $50,000 to complete the build
ing, as above stated. Varioim grand

Receiver is Asked for State Building

Philadelphia, April 10.—A bill
asking for a receiver for the Mutual
Building and iajau association, was
! led in the state courts here
today.
The concern is one of the largest
of the kind in the country and op
erates largely in Pennsylvania and
other sections of the east.
It is stated in the bill that over
tour million dollars a.e involved and
that, the move is to place the com
pany In liquidation is due to mis
management, etc.

FROM THE CARNIVAL CO.
The Igidb of the Maccabees,
were presented with a check for
$18,26 by the Par! er Carnival Com
pany as their share of the re eipts
of the shows last week. This con
tribution was purely voluntary on the
part oi Manager Kennedy bui it
shows that he appreciates the kind
ness of Mrs. Lytle, Mrs. Goodyear
and others of the Maccabees in tie
recent unfor una; e death of a mem
ber of their company. The check
was banded to Mrs. Lytle late Sat
urday night.
