a pretty good chance of getting what

THE CRY FOR MORE HOMES.
The cry for more homes In Bruns
wick Is increasing every day. Peo
ple who are coming to locate In this
rapidly growing cliy are brought Into
contact with an unusual condition.
Not a house to rent, few first class
hoarding houses and hotels always
crowded with people and that too
beyond the reach of the man of mod
erate income.
In other titles which are enjoying
an Infiux of population men of cap
ital have mot this issue by organ
izing stock companies and building
numbers of homes to rent at from
fifteen to forty dollars per mouth.
Such a concern would pay handsome j
dividends here in Brunswick and at
the same time would render a great
service to the city.
The News a.tually knows fifteen
families who are anxious to locate
hi re lu Brunswick, but simply cannot
find houses to live in. The heads of
these families arc eghiloyed by acer-
tain corporation and its employees
nabe the option of living here or in
other cities da they want to select
Brunswick, but cannot for the rea
son stated.
News has called attention to
tula condition several times in the
past and it does nope that the board
of trade will take the matter up and
use its good ollices to the end that
some tangible movement may soon
oe started in the line we have sug
gested.
We just must have more homes in
Brunswick.
SHOULD CALL ANOTHER BOND
ELECTION.
The News deply regrets that the
bond election of Thursday failed in
its purpose. \st regret that

O o through this odeal, for the law
in its wisdom presumes that a man
is Innocent until tie is convicted by
a jury 'trial. Therefore the jail is
merely a place of detention and
ought to ibe clean, habitable and com
iortable. For that reason alone, it
is wrong to condemn people to the
miserable old shack we now call a
county jail.
We simply do not believe the peo
ple of Glynn county understand the
proposed bond Issue. In the drat
place, the entire Issue would nave
been matured in seven years and
the burden would have fallen equally
od the tax payors, without any spec

dition.
We believe that If this matter Is
placed squarely before the petople
of the community in the right man
uer; if they know all of the details
contemplated in the proposed issue;
if they are brought to understand
that no bonds mean double taxation,
we are sue they will see the matter
in a different light, and we therefoe
suggest that the commissioners at
once issue a call for another elect
ion and thus give the people of the
county another opportunity to pass
upon the matter.
The News is quite persuaded that
the people of Glynn county do nat
want to pay double taxes just uow.
