BTEVE POSTELL IN THE SHADOW
OF DEATH.
Ere the sun of this Sabbath morn
ing sinks to rest, the indications are
that the life of Steve Postell, the
veteran Atlanta newspaper man, will
have ebbed away. It Is the irony of
fate that death, in its invasion of
•Georgia newspapordom, should have
plucked from Its midst one of Us
rarest and brightest ornaments.
Steve Postell. In addition to being
one of the best all round members
of the craft In the state of Georgia,
was possessed of those rarely Jovial
dispositions that make and retain
lasting friends. Hs was conscientious
In his work, and while enjoying to
the fullest degree the confidence of
those who preside at the groat
sources of the state's news centora.
he never was known to abuse that
faith in order to serve his newspa
pers, which he loved with the con
suming passion of his life.
The writer knew Steve Postell
well and loved him likewise. Years
ago, when he wanted some training
on the larger papers of the state
and was assigned to "do the capltol
building" one of the most difficult
"runs" in Atlanta, U was Steve
Postell who held out the fraternal
hand of good fellowship and steered
the young "cub" in the channel that
lead to "beats" and "scoops” on
many of the older boys who use to
"do the capltol" for contem i<orary
publt. aliens. It was one of the ob
jects of Steve Postell’s life to aid
younger and less gifted fellow craft
men and when that great heart shall
have been silenced by the grim hand
of the reaper, no set of men will bow
