GRADUATES OF GLYNN ACADEMY
TO DINE AT OGLETHORPE
NEXT TUESDAY NIGHT.
The alumni of the Glynn Academy
will give a banquet at the Oglethorpe
hotel next Tuesday night, which prom
ise* to be a very pleasant affair. The
following notices have been mailed
to ail graduates of the academy:
Dear Sir: —You are a graduate of
Glynn Academy of the class of
the total number of graduates being
about two hundred. An alumni asso
ciation of Glynn Academy has been
formed, the principal object of which
is to cherish the memory of our
school days. The commencement ex
ercises for 1909 occur the night of
June 15th at the Opera House, Bruns
wick, Ga. To conclude these exer
cises the alumni association has de
cided (o have a banquet at the Ogle
thorpe hotel Wednesday evening, June
16th, at 9 o’clock.
Asa graduate of Glynn Academy
you are a member of the Alumni as
sociation. We shall be verv clad In
deed to have you attend the banquet
this year. The cost will be a dollar
a plate. You have the privilege of
bringing with you one friend at the
same rate. We desire that at least
one-half of the graduates be present
this year at the banquet.
That we may know exactly the
number who will attend, please ad
vise Mr. A. M. Ross, treasurer, of
Brunswick, Ga., by return mail wheth
er you will be with us, and will you
bring a friend. Whether you attend
or not, in order to help us defray the
expenses, we will be very glad if yem
■will kindly send hint the dollar or
two dollars If you wish.

The steamer Atlantic, Capt. 11. A.
White, will operate another excursion
to Fernandina tomorrow. The steam
er will leave Brunswick at 9 o’clock
a. m. Returning will leave Fernan
dina at o p. ra., f.rriv,ng in Brunswick
at 8.30.
Sufficient lime is had at Fernandina
for a trip to Amelia beach and for a
surf hath. The tides suit splendidly
for surf bathing just at this particu
lar season at Amelia beach. Fare

JACKSONVILLE BOARD OF TRADE
PAYS TRIBUTE TO LATE
EDWIN BROBSTON.
The following resolution has been
passed by the Jacksonville board of
trade:
“Whereas, It has pleased the Al
mighty God in His infinite wisdom to
remove from our midst a valued mem
ber of this board and one of Jackson
ville’s best known and most useful
citizens, Edwin Brobston, therefore
“Be It resolved that in the death
of Edwin Brobston this board sus
tains a loss of one of Its ablest mem
bers and the city of Jacksonville and
the state of Florida a most useful
citizen.
'Edwin Brobston was yet a young
man, in the very midday of his great
usefulness, with a record of many re
markable achievements behind him
and a future that was full of promise.
He was foremost in public service.
gave liberally of his time, money and
his talents to the upbuilding of bis
adopted city and state and many of
the most meritorious development
projects in this city in the past few
years he has been directly connected
with or deeply interested in. He was
chairman of the immigration com
mittee of this board at the time of
his death and in such capacity served
the board and the interests of the
city and state well.
"Edwin Brobston moved to Florida
from Brunswick, Ga., six years ago.
In Georgia he hud long been promi
inent. in the affairs of state and bus
iness and while lie never lost any of
the. love he had for his native state,
he became so enthused with Florida
and the wonderful possibilities that
he ai once took front rank among the
state's strongest developers. For sev
eral years he was senior member of
the firm of Brobston, Fendig & Go.,
large real estate operators with otfl
ces in Brunswick and Jacksonville
Subsequently he became president of
the Jacksonville Development com
pany and after retiring from the ex
ecutlve office of that corporation, h<
devoted his time to his personal real
estate interests tinder the firm name
of Edwin Brobston.
"Be it resolved further, That a page
of the minutes of this board be dedi
cated to his memory and that a copy
of this memorial be mailed to hit
family.
