2 I‘H ROAD FOR SOUTH GEORGIA OCILLA, PINEBLOOM AND VAL DOSTA TO BE COMPLETED TO OCILLA. Ocilia, Ga., June 18.—Messrs. B. B. Gray, B. G. O'Berry and Georgp Mc- Crancy, of Wiliacooche, Ga., came through on their automobiles and spent the day, conferring with the business men of this place, looking to the completion of the line of the Ocilia, Plnebloom and Valdosta rail road, into this point from Lax, Ga., the present terminus of the road; and also to the completion of the road south from Wiliacooche to Jack sonville, Fla., by the way of Homers ville or Dupont, Ga., and they will return within a week or ten days to confer with other citizens, who were out of town today, and at which time they hope to materialize their plans as to this end of the line. This road was chartered two years ago, to be built from this point to Valdosta via Wiliacooche and Mill town and twelve miles of the track north of Wiliacooche and to Lax, was graded and the track laid with 60- pound new steel rails, and the panic of 1907 stopped the further construc tion. The jieople of this place are very much interested In the construction of this road, which will so much shorten the distance into Savannah, Brunswick and Jacksonville, ns well as give the town another outlet, and they are very' enthusiastic over the present prospect of the renewal of the construction work. Mr. B. 11. Gray, the president of the road and prime promoter, talked Interestingly to a newspaper repre sentative, and assured him that it was the intention of the officials of the road to proceed at an early dale with the construction work, as soon as the preliminaries could be arranged, and stated that it would shorten the dis tance by rail between Atlanta and Jacksonville by forty miles. It, is not definitely determined whether this line will be extended southward by the way of Nashville or Adel in Berrien county, but likely to the firs; named point us it him teen chartered to build to Valdosta. ♦ the fishing at ovmekri.and ISLAND IS THE BEST ON THE COAST. HARRIS EXPECTS ENCAMP MENT TO BE ONE OF LAF.CEST EVER HELD. ihe Fourth Georgia regiment will arrive at St. Simon on July 24 for :t week's encampment, and according to reports it will be one of the largest ever held by the regiment. The offi cers and men are ail looking forward to it with great pleasure ano every one who can possibly get away will attend. The Macon Telegraph of yes terday contained the following about the encampment: “Col. Walter A. Harris is looking forward with a great deal of pleasure to the encampment of the 2d Geor gia regiment on St. Simons island, on July 24th, that being the date agre :o upon. He said yesterday that he be-“ lieved that it would be one of the largest regimental encampments held in a long time. “July is one of the very dull months in a commercial way, and members of the various companies, who are em ployes, can better get off for a week or so during that month than in any other month of the year. "With one of the finest rifle ranges in the state on the island, with its 1 magnificent beach and sea breeze, to say nothing of the seafood diet—fish out of the briny deep right into the frying pan—and the salt air acting as a tonic, St. Simons offers so many inducements for the inland boys, that the chances are that many will go to the Island who would not care to go elsewhere. "It is not. yet known what compan ies will go down besides the Macon companies, hut the entire staff is de sirous that ail the companies of the regiment rhould go, and the more in camp the more pleasant will be the stay. "Even member will carry a bath ing suit and a hook and line, though there may lie some who will want aj crab net or a harpoon," — * Semi-Annual Dividend No. 26, The National Bank of Brunswck, Brunswick, Ga.
