WORLD’S RECORD OF LAST YEAR
(By the Asosciated Press.) ;
Philadelphia, Sept. 9. —Babe Rutji
today equalled his own world’s record
of last year—fifty-four home runs,
when he. sailed, probably the longest
drive ever seen in Shide Park. It
went over the fence in left center and
into a tree on the street/
Ruth has twenty-one more games
and judging by the recent pace, may
satisfy his ambition to clout sixty.

Cobb May Solve His Outfield
Problem by an Infield Shift
-'“y, .
* \ V >:
Ira FlaflStead.
The sudden slipping of the peppery
little veteran, Donie Bush, in recent
weeks has hit Detroit a tough blow.
It is believed certain that Cobb will
have to htiild up anew infield with
out Btrsh if he hopes to keep the Tim
ers in the race. While he hasn’t an
inflefder of Donie’s regular speed at
hand; there’s a good dhance that he
will take a chance on Ire Flagstead.
Flagstead, who startled the league
with his hitting, is a 200 J inflelder.
With Ira, Harry Heilman, Bobby
Veach, Chick Shorten and himself for
outfield duty, Cobb has had a surplus
of gardeners, all good hitters. Shift
ing Ira to the infield will solve this
problem at least.
HE IS LOOKING 'EM OVER AGAIN.
‘‘Eight years of stomach and liver
trouble reduced me to a walking skel
eton. My skin was dried up and as
yellow as a twenty-dollar gold piece
•I was filled with gas and had severe
pains in my right side. I could not
think and had lost all ambition to do
anything. Doctors’ medicine did not
touch me. My cousin advised Mayr’s
Wonderful Remedy, which snatched
me from the grave. I have gained
sixty pounds, eat like a hired man
and am looking ’em over again.” It is
a simple, harmless preparation that
removes the catarrhal mucus from the
intestinal tract and allays the inflam
mation which causes practically all
stomach, liver and Intestinal aliments
including appendicitis. One dose will
convince or money refunded. Sold by
;ill druggists.

What Your Time Worth?

WHEN you go to buy a pair of boots, a can of peas or a kitchen
cabinet, do you know exactly w hat you want—or lo you “shop
around" and take pot luck? *
You can save many an hour’s time—and many a good hard
dollar—by knowing beforehand w hat you want, where to get it,
and approximately bow much it will cost.
You can always know this much before you enter a store.
If it’s clothing, you know how well it should wear and what
the style should be. If it’s a musical instrument, you know
what to cxnect in tone and workmanship. If it’s a carpet sweep
er. you know what kind of service it should give. ,

Merchandise with established repuation is the best to buy.
The only way to he sure othc goods you buy is to read the

better than rummaging around.
It saves time. It saves money.
