BIG HARRY CAREY PICTURE
AT THE GRAND TODAY
Grinning, fighting, human Harry
Carey will entertain his admirers at
the Grand today, where “The Freeze
Out,’’ his fast Universal photodrama
of the wost. will be shown, which has
been anticipated over since he made
his recent hit with ‘if Only Jim.”
1 The Freeze Out” varies in type
from the usual Harry Carey picture
and gives the star a chance to get
over the little subletles and flashes of
humor which have made him the Ace
of Western dhima.
The story opens with The Stranger
arriving in Broken-Buckle, a wild and
lawless Httle western town, to open a
gambling house. He discovers that
the existing palace' of chance. “The
Headlight,” is being operated in Ac
cordance with the crooked ideas of
Whipple. Its proprietor. and decides
to drive Whipple out of town. Zoo,
the girl who conducts the store, hates
•11 Ramblers and Whipple in psrticn
lar. The news thta the Stranger is
Roing to further corrupt the morals
or the community is not pleasing to
her and she puts every obstacle in
his path; even horsewhipping him.
As the story draws toward its cli
max. however, It seems that the big,
grod-natured stranger has thrived on
opposition and he is seen putting the
finishing touahes to his building.
When the door* are thrown open the
spectators see not a gambling hall,
but a library and a school room.
Whipple is driven from town and
the Anal excitement leads to an ap
proaching wedding.
The presentation of "The Freese
iOut” is well done by a pophlar cast,
including Helen Ferguson, J. Farrell
McDonald, Lydia Yeamans Titus. Joe
Harris and Charles LeMoyne.
The Story, written by George C.
Hull, was produced under the direc
tion of Jack Ford.
“One Wild Week,” in which Beho
Daniel’s will be seen at the Bijou ThF-
Brq T< day, is the story of an orphaj)
,v d Heiress who has lived a rather
cheeriest life with an overhearing'
aunt until her eighteenth birthday,
when she makes a break and goes to
the city to visit an old friend of her
lead mother’s. At least she starts j
[for the city home of Mrs. Brewster.|
but through a plausible combination]
of circumstances, she really arrives
at quit# soother place.
