LONG LAND CASE ON
IN , IDE CITY COURT
Charles R. Haskins, of Brantley
County, Suing Yaryan Rosin
and Turpentine Company For
Alleged Damage to Land
by Abandoning Contracts.
The case of Charles R. Haskins, of
Brantley county, vs. the Yaryan Ros
in and Turpentine company has been
occupying the attention of the city
court since Monday afternoon and is
still far from a finish.
The case involves something like
$14,000 and every point is being
warmly contested by the oposing at
torpneys, Bennet, Twitty & Reese,
and Conyers & Wilcox. It seems that
the Yaryan people had a contract to
remove certain stumps from the land
of the plaintiff, and that the company
had removed them from certain por
tions of the land, that the owner at
various times, interfered with those
in charge of removing the stumps and
the turpentine company stopped the
work entirely, withdrawing the differ-
ent gangs engaged in the work.
The owner of the land, through his
attorneys, Conyers & Wilcox, places
an amount of damage on each acre by
the turpentine company’s failure to 1
remove the stumps, not exactly dam
age, but rather, that the land would
have enhanced in value so many dol
lars per acre had the said stumps
been removed.
The case occupied all of yesterday
and promises to go well into today.
All parties at interest should remem
ber that the hour of convening has
been changed to 9 o’clock, instead of
9:30 as heretofore.
Notice to Jurors.
All jurors, parties and witnesses not
engaged in the trial of the above case,
are not required to report this morn
ing until 11 o’clock, instead of the
usual hour as the case now being
heard will likely not go to the jury
until that hour and Judge Butts de
sires that the jurors have as much
time as possible to devote to their
personal affairs.
