While the lower court room was
ra>mfortably filled yesterday morning
when Judge Butts rapped for order,
the balcony, which is reserved for col
ored people, was packed and remain
ed so throughout the day. On account
of the absence of Solicitor Scarlett,
Attorney Mark Wilcox acted in his
stead during, the forenoon, disposing
of a large number of- cases.
Following is a report of the day's,

Raymond Armstrong, larceny. Plea |
of guilty; sentence. $75 to include cost
or three months on the gang.
Joseph Jones, violating automobile
law. Plea of guilty. Three months
on the gang or $25, to include cost.
W. M. , Wiggins, violating prohibi
tion law. Plea of guilty. Fine of
$250, to irtclude cost.
Joe Monroe, larceny from the house.
Six months on the gang. This is the
negro who entered Mavromat’s store,
oerner Lee and H streets.
Earnest Carter, violating the prohi
bition law. Verdict of guilty. Fine
$250, to include cost. This, is the case
where a quantity of liquor was ship
ped from Baxley and caught on the
way in tihs county.
.Arthur Plant, larceny.. Mistrial.
Rebecca Richards, violating prohi
bition law. Verdict of not guilty.
London Floyd, violating prohibition
law. Plea of guilty. Fine SIOO, to in
clude cost or six months on the gang.
Henry Smith and Lula Broadstone,
misdemeanor, plea of guilty. Three
months or $25 to include cost.
Shelden Williams, violating prohibi
tion law. Guilty. Six months or $250,
to ihclude cost.
Handy Brown, vagrance. Plea of
guilty. Six months on the gang.
Tloyd Holmes, driving automobile
without license. Three months or
$25, to include cost.
Leo Union, Joe Hall and Richard
Israel, larceny. Plea of guilty. Six
months on the gang for former two;
eight months for latter.
Will Johnson, driving automobile
without license, plea of guilty. Three
months or SSO.
Court will convene again this morn
ing at o'clock to resume work on

At 10 o’clock yesterday morning,
Judge Edwin W. Dart convened the
regular monthly session of the court
of ordinary and the following busi
ness was handled:
Eva Minor, heir at law of Judson
Minor, deceased, pettiion for order
requiring Brunswick Development
company to execufe titles. Granted.
Application from J. M. Ralston,
guardian for Miss Margaret Ttvpper,'
for discharge. Granted.
E. F. Stevens; petition for letters of
administration on the estate of John
Currie. Pending.
Mrs. Addie Crosby petitioned the
court for a year’s support from the
estate of her husband, W. H. Cros
by. Granted.
In the matter of Susan Horn vs. C.
A. Shaw, petition requiring making
bond under bond for title. Granted.
Petition from John E. Dubberly, ad
ministrator of the estate of Mrs. Mar
garet Rosa Green, for leave to sell
land. Granted.
A number of minor matters which
have been pending for some time
were also concluded at the session
yesterday.
DISTRICT ATTORNEY ALEX
ANDER IS ASKED TO RESIGN.

Atlanta, Oct. 3. —Hooper Alexander
today announced that he had received
a telegram from Attorney General
Daugherty, requesting that he resign,
on the grounds that he had held the
office eigfyt years, and that he would
forward during the day his formal
compliance with the request. His
te*rm of office does not expire until
January 1, because his confirmation
was held up in the senate several
months.
C. W. Hager, a young Atlanta law
yer, slated for immediate appoint
ment, returned to the city today from
conference with Dmrgherty, and his
appointment is regarded as a fore
gone conclusion.
