GRAND OPENING IS TRIBUTE
T/O LASSES WHITE MINSTRELS
The Montgomery Advertiser speaks
in the highest terms of Lasses White
Minstrels, which will be seen at The
Grand on next Tuesday night:
If such a thing is possible it might
be s:id thaT Lasses himself made even
1 a bigger hit than ever before, and de
j cidedly bigger than last season when
I he made his first appearance in Mont
gomery at the head of his own com
i:any. Lasses was mighty good, but
he was just a part of the aggregation
f fun-makers
Coming next to Lasses, and without
whom the undertaking would not have
gone so big, was Slim Vermont, who
just seemed to fit in right, to Lasses
and give him an opportunity to pull
his funny stuff. Slim proved to be a
great hit throughout the entire per
fo: manee, and he won a place in the
hearts of fun-loving theatre-goers of
Montgomery.
Paul Cholet, who is remembered in
Montgomery from his last year’s ap
pearance, is looked upon by Montgom
erians as one of the greatest yodelers
ever heard here. He added to his
popularity last night by the wonderful
selections which he rendered.
Lasses knocked them cold with his
“If you don’t lielieve I’m leaving,” and
like his famous “Sweet Mama Tree
top Tall,” the audience refused to let
him stop* until he .had informed them
that lie was “not a phonograph.”
Taking it as a whole. Lasses White
and his aggregation made a big hit
and their return to Montgomery in
the future will no doubt be welcomed
by all lovers of minstrels.
