Some days ago Fred G. Warde, man
aging secretary of the Board of Trade,

forming like organizations of the vis
it, also naming and while
not expecting any entertaining, from
indications, the Brims wf6ksans will
be the recipients of many delightful
social affairs as well as matters con
cerning the real purpbse' for which
the trip is being made. .
-Yesterday, the following letter was
received from E. W. Brown, executive
secretary of the DeLand Commercial
Club and it is only one of a number
which have come recently:

Judge Butts resumed work on the
criminal docket in the city court yes
terday morning and a number of cas
es were disposed of during the day.-
Several went their way rejoicing,
their cases having been nolle prossed.
Among these /are 'Elijah Atkinson,
charged with larceny; Everett White,
trespass; John Hill, misdemeanor;.,
CurtiS James, wife beating; T. C. Moi*-
ror, abandonment of child and Tom
Reddick, violation of the game law.
It will be remembered that the latter
was held in jail for some weeks in
connection with the murder of Fred
Thomas. *! "*
George Bates, colored, was convict
ed on the larceny charge and given sjx
months on the gang.
Will Lucree was fined SIOO for vio
lating the prohibition law.
In the case of Allie Anderson the
jury could not agree and a mistrial
was declared just before court re
cessed.
In the case of Mrs. Seagui, charged
with violating the prohibition law, the
jury returned a verdict of guilty and
sentence will be passed tomorrow
morning. This is the case in which
Chief Register, Officers Overstreet
and Gibbs searched the house occu
pied by MrV. Seagui and found a
small quantity of whiskey. It was
a hard fought case and consumed sev
eral hours in the trial. The jury wii;
cut only fifteen minutes and returno.l
the guilty verdict.
Judge Butts recessed until' tomor
row morning at 9 o’clock when he will
again take iip the criminal docket and
will finish work on the civil docket'.
Dyring the session a great deal of bus
iness' has been disposed of and the
dockets are nearly cJsayed.

ity of a light frost in the southern
Appalachian region was forecast to
day by the weather bureau in an
nouncing continued cool wcultfter for
tonight in the Atlantic and east Gulf
states. Frost was reported early to
day as far south as Tennessee'
