NEW CURWOOD FILM IS
SHOWING HERE NOW
One of the interesting events for
lovers of the photoplay of the sea
son is occuring the The Grand theater,
where James Oliver Curwcod’s latest
story of the Northland, “Isobel, or
The Trail’s End,” opened yesterday
for a two days’ run. This film drama
is a product of the directorial talent
of. Edwin Carewe, and is presented
with a cast which features House Pet
ers and charming Jane Novak.
ICf all the Curwcod stories, it has
been acknowledged that none has the
breadth and human appeals of his fa
mous novel. “Isobel,” from which this
interesting epic of a Northland ro-
mance was adapted. Those who have
read this volume will find that the
photoplay version adheres closely to
the lines of action and character por
trayal as laid down by the author.
Edwin Carewe, ip f3ct, has been said
to have given photoplay fans their
first real glimpse of Curwood; in other
words, hie has retained the full pewer
of the author’s sweeping character
portrayals and his tense and exciting
climaxes.
Remember the picture will be
shown again today at the pre-war pri
ces of 10 and 20c.
FAMOUS CHILD ACTORS.
Three of the most famous children
of the screen appear in William S.
Hart’s latest Paramount picture, “The
Whistle,” which comes to the Bijou
Theatre Saturday. They are Georgie
Stone, who was the Belgian boy in
“Till I Come Back to You,” and who
supported Mr. Hart in “The Poppy
Girl’s Husband;” Richard Headrick,
who wa* “the regular feller” in Mr.
Hart’s western plcturf, “The Toll
Gate” and Will Jim Hatton, a juve-

nile of talent and promise.
Hatton has the part who, in
the picture story is frccidentaily kill
ed, and Georgie Stone is seen as the
stolen boy,. Richard Headrick is the
infant who is all but drowned in ; a
river. This trio of juvenile talent can
not be beaten and they add much to
the entertainment value of the photo
play. Myrtle Steadman is the lea dirig
