be Secured.—Plans Are Un
derway For the Organization
of a New Troop of Boy Scouts

A survey of the boyhood of Bruns
wick under the direction of the Rotary
Olub is to be made within the next
few days to determine the possibili
ties of enlarging,the activities of the
Boy Scout movement. J. B. Abrams,
of the boys’ work committee, is in
charge of the survey, and is being
assisted by scout officials of the Oke
fenokee council. Ministers, teachers,
welfare workers and leaders in vari
ous organizations of the city are be
ing asked to cooperate in making the
survey. “We are taking stock of our
greatest asset—the boys,” said Mr.
Abrams yesterday.
Plans are being made to organize
a number of new troops of Boy Scouts
in the city and county. Scout head
nuarters will be opened up soon in
charge of Deputy Commissioners A.
L. Pullen and S. K. Brown. The
Wiregrass Scout, the district organ
of the Okefencke council, will be pub
lished here. Scout Executive W, L.
Sprouse is now in the city in the in
terest of the council’s plans for future
development of the movement. He
will assist in the survey, and make
weekly visits to Brunswick until the
work is thoroughly organized.

Committee of the Rotary Club, facts
as to number of boys in Brunswick
between 12 and 18, number of boys
of this age not attending school, num
ber not attending Sunday school, the
working boy—his job, association and
recreation; percentage of boys who
smoke cigarettes, extent of gambling
among boys, what the home, church
and school is doing to' provldfe boys
with clean, wholesome leisure-time
activities; tendency among boys to
ward crime, what the “gang” is do
ing.
FIRE VIRTUALLY WIPES
OUT TEXAS OIL TOWN

Port Worth. Tex., Oct. 13.—Fire
virtually wiped out the oil town of
Ellasvnie, in Young county, this
morning. Only four or five buildings
remain in the business section of the
town, according to a telephone mes
sage from South Bend.

were laid to rest in Palmetto ceme
tery yesterday afternoon and the fun

The body of this beloved citizen
was brought in from Arco at TO:no
o’clock yesterday morning and placed
in the undertaking parlors of Edo
Miller, where hundreds went to take
a last loqk at their friend. All class
es of Brunswick citizenry paid horn
age to the deceased.
At l: 30 the remains were removed
from the undertaking establishment
to the First Methodist church, comer
Norwich and Monk streets and here
impressive services were conducted
by Rev. Thomas H. Thomson. The
large church was well filled and after
the simple but impressive service the
remains were conducted to Palmetto
cemetery where interment was held.
Ocean and Atlantic lodges, F. & A
M., Rathbone Lodge, Knights of Py
thias, and the Boy Scouts, acted as es
cort, while a large number of auto
mobiles were also in the funeral pro
cession.
REDUCTION IN WAGES;

meet, al future reductions in the wag
es of railroad employees with corres
ponding-decreases in freight rates,
will be presented to the association
of Railway Executives at their meet
ing here tomorrow'.
The proposition will he presented
by a special committee of railroad
officials, which conferred last week
with the government officials at
Washington.
