THE EFFICIENT WOMAN.
We hear a great deal nowadays
about the efficiency of women. In the
tan hal mucus from the intestinal tract
novels of fifty years ago. who ever
heard a woman praised for her execu
tive ability, force and energy, in the
sense that It is used today? The frail,
delicate, helpless Ideal of womanhood
has passed away. How is It possible
to measure up to the Ideals of mod
ern womanhood? In the first place,
we must keep our bodies in the best

“THE OLD NEST” AT BIJOU
TODAY. .
When “The Old Nest” comes to the
Bijou dn Thursday Friday (today
and tomorrow) the people of Bruns
wick will iuive a chance to see a
picture that-Rbis been hailed by critics
and reviewers as, the most satisfying
all-American picture that has yet been
produced. The. theme, that of a moth
er who sees het six children leave
her, one hv one, is common to Amei
iean families. All the poignancy of
f&feling lift a, these leave-takings
arouse in real life have been caught
on the screety
Rupert - li tighes is the author of this
unusual tale of mother love. I7e has
sought to present a cross-section of a
universal theme as applied to an
American family. All of the joy* and
sorrows connected with raising a fam
ily have been dramatized. - Each, of
the children grow to manhood or wo
manhood with his <fwn individual
interests, then leaves the old nest to
follow the call of l/s desires. Only
their mother is left to her loneliness
and .her memories. But, as in every
American family, the young remem
ber the old nest and return to it.
The picture was produced by Gold
wyu and was directed by Reginald
Barker. Mary Alden plays the old
mother, aud her performance has
been said to be a masterpiece of
screen acting.
“LOVE'S PENALTY” AT THE
GRAND* TO DAY.
“I am her sister!” It was the cry of
a girl triumphant, holding at last the
ipag who had robbed her of her sister.
“I am going to make you tell the
world what you have done.” She
stood there laughing, her hair hang
ing in*a gorgeous mass, over her
shoulders, her dress torn by her own
hands. And then ... a greater pow
er than hers intervened. Here is
Hope Hampton, empress of emotion,
glorious screen beauty, in a drama
unforgettable for its revelation of a
woman’s love —not for a man—but for
her owu sister.
The picture is full of dramatic mo
ments. and gives you a truer intul-'
tion into a woman’s soul.
