This Afternoon From Their
St. Simon Home and Will be
Met at Boat by Large

At the Rotary dinner tonight at 8
o’clock, twentysix St. John’s Haven
Boy Scouts .will be the honor guests of
the occasion. The Scouts will reach
the city at 5 o’clock this afternoon and
will be met at the dock tjy the ladies
of Brunswick, who will care for th*
little fellows over-night. * ,

• The entertainment committee of the
club, Mike Walsh, C. P. Dusenbury
and P. M. Nightengale, has prepared
a fine program for the boys’ enjoy
ment. Pres. G. H. Smith expects ev
ery Rotarian to be in his place at 8
o'clock and entertain the obys.
The following ladies have expressed
a desire to each takek two Scouts to
their homes and keep them over night
after the Rotary dinner is over and
make them feel like someone cares
for the boys of St. John’s Haven:

Baptist Church, and WilJ be
Followed by an Interesting
“Social Hour.”
One of the delightful affairs of the
city for" the last number cY years has
been the annual banquet given by the
Philathea class of the First Baptist
church, and this year promises to riv
al any of the previous occasions. Com
mittees are at work and preparations
are making for a most delightful time
and a large attendance is assured.
The supper will be served in the spa
cious parlors of the Baptist church
this evening beginning promptly at
7:30, and will be followed by a social
hour at which time a program of mu
sic and games will be given.
Thus class of young ladies is one of
the oldest organized classes in ‘local
Sunday schools. It has a membership
of nearly seventy-five and is doing ag
gressive work in its line —the further
ance of interest in Bible schools and
Bible study. Mrs. G. C. Fennell is the
president and Mrs.'W. H. Taylor
been the teacher for a number of
years and its membership is made up
of some of-the best known Sunday
school workers in Brunswick.
Avery cordial invitation is extend
ed to any young woman in the city
who is not attending another school to
meet on Sunday, morning at 10:15.
Strangers are always welcome.

Birmingham Ala., Oct. 24. —
mingham. undreamed of when Dee
surrendered to Grant at (Appomattox,
and today the largest city of its age
in the United States, began this morn
ing the celebration of its fiftieth birth
day.
The festivities will continue for the
entire week. President and Mrs.
Harding will come here Wednesday
for the entire day. A separate pro
gram has been prepared for each day,
embracing many notable features.
