IN THREE CASES
Commissioner Kilburn Had Busy
Day Hearing Testimony in
Castes Coming Under Work
ingmen’s Compensation Act.
Commissioner F. J. Kilburn heard
three cases yesterday, occupying the
superior court room at the Glynn
county court house. Mr. Kilburn is
a member of the hoard created under
the law o£ Georgia Workingmen’s
compensation, act and two of the eas
el were familiar to him, he having
heard evidence on previous visits to
this city.
The case of Mrs. Lola Greenfield,
who - brought the matter of Fred
Thomas before the commission
through the D. Bald
win, was heard and evidence submit
ted. Messrs. Farr and Carrington ap
peared ior the administrator. There
was another matter from the box fac
w
tory in which Elijah Rowe wanted
compensation and he submitted bis
testimony through the same attor
neys. R. D. Meader appeared for the
box factory, #
In the case of Ida Bacon, widow of
John Bacon, Krauss ajid Strong ap
peared for the claimant. This matter
was heard soipe months ago by Com
missioner Kilburn who rendered a de
cision giving the claimant $3,000, but
the full hoard did- not concur and re
quested further testimony, which was
furnished yesterday.
MARKED GRAVES OF ALL
THE CONFEDERATE DEAD

Mcßae, Ga., Nov. 23.—The Winnie
Davis Chapter, U. D. C., placed mark
ers on the graves of the Confederate
soldiers In the cemetery at this place
today. The dedication services were
held at the Bapftet church at 10
o'clock. There were several noted
Georgia women and men present to
make addresses and help carry out
the program to honor the Confederate
dead.
Elaborate plans for the entertain
ment had been made by the women of
the chapter and several social events
(jyyanged In their honor. Immediate
ly after the services at the chaurch.
the program was concluded at the
cemetery, where 37 markers were
placed on the graves of the Confed
erate dead, with appropriate hcrors.
THREE THOUSAND QUARTS
MEXICAN WHISKEY SEIZED
San Antonio, Tex.. Nov. 23. —Three
thousand quart hotritjp of Mexican li
quor, thrirty-threo horses and six sad
dles were taken by Texas Rangers
ami custom agents, following a fight
with a band of sixteen armed Mexi
can smugglers Tuesday near Reali
tos, a small town on the Mexican-Tex
as Railway, according to word receiv
ed at the customs house here.
Three of the smugglers were re
ported wounded. The Mquor was in
bottles, packed in saddle bags and
ether containers thrown over the
backs of the horses, and it is said
to be the largest seizure made in
southwest Texas since prohibition
went into effect. The smugglers,
after an hours’ fighting, left their
horses and escaped.
