“LOSE BATTALION”
HERO IS NOW LOST

Washington, Nov. 28. —Lieut. Col.
Charles W. Whittesey, hero of the
famous “lost 'battalion,” has disap
peared from the steamship Toloa, on
which he sailed Saturday for Havana,
accordin gto a wireless received here
today.
Col. Whittesely announced Friday
he would attend the Army-Navy foot
ball game, but without telling any
one his plans, sailed Saturday for
Cuba. Members law firm said
that they could not account for his
actions as he seemed unusually cheer
ful. •

Los Angeles, Nov. 28. —The major
ity of the jurors in the trial of Arthur
C. Burch for the allege! murder of
J. Belton Kennedy will be women it
seemed probable today, which is the
fourth of the trial.
Of the twelve in the box, accept ed

New York, Nov. 28. —Charles H.
Heiezerzheim, secretary of the King’s
Pharmaceutical Society, declares to
day that one-third of the drug stores
of Brooklyn are now owned by form
er saloonkeepers who have gone in
to the business since prohibition.

that during the last few months in

established pharmacies.
