THE COURT OF ICRDINARY.
ONLY TWO MATTERS IN
The court of ordinary, Judge Edwin
W. Dart, presiding, was called yester
day morning at 10 o’clock and only
two cases were handled. Mrs., Abbie
Jones was allowed, a year’s support
from the estate of B. F. Jones, and ar.
order was granted J. A. Cason to
make deeds to lands belonging to
the estate of H. H. Arnett.
QUINN & COMPANY WILL
SqCIN BE AT WORK AGAIN.
Quinn & Company, packers and
shippers of crab meat, whose building
was destroyed by fire some days ago,
will soon be ready for operation again
as the work of rebuilding their boiling
room is nearly finisher!. It will be
remembered that the structure, which
is located on the wharf foot of Prince
street, was alntcst totally destroyed
by fire some time ago.
TWO FIRES YESTERDAY
WITH SMALL DAMAGES.
The department was caHed out
twice yesterday. At 10:40 a. m. a call
answered at 1400 Newcastle
street. A small house occupied by col
ored people was slightly damaged.,
At 6:15 p. m., the store at the corner
of Howa and Amherst was ablaze but
the department reached the scene in
time to extinguish it with damage of
less than SSO. The building is owned
by Oscar Harris.
COUNTY BOARD’S REGULAR
MEETING BE HELD TODAY.
The regular monthly meeting cf the
board of county commissioners will
be held at their room in the court
house this morning and regular rou
tine matters will be handled. Outside
Cf these will be the appointment of
n bridge commissioner. It will be re
membered that it was agreed some
days ago that the creation of a com
mission was the best movement right
at this time. The ctmnty is to seleot
one member, the city one aiul these
two to agree on the third member.
J. R. THOMPSON INJURED
WHEN TRUCK STRIKES CAR.
J. K. Thompson, of the Highway de
partment. was badly shaken up yes
terday and also received several cuts
when a truck driven by Clifford Jones,
colored, yrashed into the rear‘>of the

accideu) occurred on the Mclntosh
side of the river <m the driveway. Mr.
Burtistl arrested Jones and placed
him lrt.th<* county jail.* Mr.
Tliomptx# received medical attention

home here later tn the day.

missioned this morning and ask for
a Rearing. h will be remembered that
hia resignation was asked for by
Chief Norris when the Taylor liquor
was captured some days ago. While
Mr. I ;ng says he doos not desire to
serve on the county force under pres
ent conditions, he wants the board to
hear everything in connection with
the recent arrest of Anderson. Owens,
and Lucre* and feels that he will be
fully vindicated. It m> be that some
sensational facts will he brought c:ut
If the hoard allows Mr. Long to appear
before, it and this will evidently be
really the desire of the board as
Chairman Miller announced some
days ago that the entire matter would
he fully Investigated.
KRESS’ SANTA CLAUS ARRIVED
IN BRUNSWICK SATURDAY.
The largest crowds ever attracted
hv a business house in this city, were
assembled in front of the Kress Store
upon the arrival of Santa Claus at his
headquarters.
