OLT) GLORY.
Take the red of the rose and the blue
of the ‘sky,
And tlu‘ white of the snow-capped
mountains high,
And a handful stors stars from the
pools cf heaven;
Blend in strikes— to (he number of
seven
The living blood-red, with six celes
tial snow-white;
Then, drop <>n the blue yon flowers of
night;
The canvass will picture that beauti
ful story
Known the world 'round as Old Glory.
*
The red is significant of the love we
bear
This land of freedom that’s without
compare:
With her pine-rlad hills and majestic
mountain peaks
Reaching heavenward for daylight’s
first streaks;
With her large lone forests and their
moon-haunted nights.
Whose beauty challenges him who in
dites,
And seeks to charm him into tranquil
quietude
Exercising charms of the w'ooer or
wooed.
White is emblematic of faith and pur
ity—
Firm keystone of this land of liberty;
Faith, born of the fulfillment of prom
ises made
And utmost honesty always displayed.
Bure, as those sparkling pearls—
faithful lamps of heaven—
World old allies of love —champion of
men.
Pure, as the radiance of the trium
phant moon
Fondly caressing the placid lagoon.
And symbolic of thruth is this fair
field of blue
Iridescent with stars as morning dew;
Truth, truth eternal, like the azure
sky above —
Proud herald of our loyalty and love.
Like unto the incense from memory’s
storied urn,
May the yearning fi r truth within us
burn..
May we be an honor to this fair land
—our own
Thp grandest country the world ha*-
e’er known.
In the union of these principles— love
faith, truth.
Is found our heritage to gallant yrnth
Who bravely declare that no monarch
ever must
Reign o’er iu, hut the God in Whom
we trust.
This world must be made safe for de
mocracy—
Brave wutchword of till;; land of liber
ty.
For. World freedom Is the pot of gold
that may be
Pound in this nation'* rainbow—Old
Glory.
