FOR SATURDAY EVENING.
The largest dance of the season will
be given at the St. Simon hotel Sat
urday night, and a large number of
Brunswick young folk will go over to
attend.
MONDAY WILL BE A
GENERAL HOLIDAY.
New Year’s Day, coming on Sunday,
will be observed on Monday and the
banks, city hall, court house, etc.,
will be closed. The railroad freight
depots will also observe the day and
will not open at all for business, just
as they did for Christmas.
ADVANCE OF 50 CENTS
PER SACK ION POTATOES.
While many of the retailers dr-e sell
ing Irish potatoes at the same figure
as they have during the past several
days, the “spuds” have ‘been costing
them 50 cents per sack /nore. The
wholesale price is now $4.25 instead of
$3.75. An additional raise is expected
shortly. ,

The Ley land line steamer, Parthen
ia, for the Downing Company, reached
port and will take on part cargo,leav
ing for Savannah to complete. The
Clyde Line steamfer Lake Gilboa, ar
rived with merchandise for Brunswick
and the interiar. Col. Altstaetter’s
yacht came In early In th e , morning
and remained throughout the day.
