CLOSE FOG TERM
Pupils and Teachers Compli
mented on Splendid Progress
Made.—Term One of Most
Successful irr History Schools
Yesterday marked the closing of the
spring terftn of the bounty
schools after one of the most success
ful semesters in the history of the lo
cal institutions of learning. The ex
ercies at each of the schools were
brief, but none the less interesting.
When the noon hour arrived pupils
and teachers bade each other good
bye and soon the buildings and play
grounds presented a deserted appear
ance. The happy hearted children go
ing to their homes loaded down with
books and other paraphernalia, to be
laid away until the bells ring out agSin
in September.
The attendance record this year has
been extremely gratifying, as has been
the splendid progress made by the pu
pils, there being but few who were not
promoted' to higher grades. Memhers |
of the faculties of the various schools l
were highly commended for their
painstaking efforts in behalf of their
children by many parents. As is al
ways the case on such occasions there
was an element of sadness as well of
jubilation when the school room doors
closed and the last pupil and teacher
passed out to their various destina
tions.
The graduating exercises of the
Glynn High School will be held at the
First Baptist church Tuesday night
next at 8 o’clock, when approximately
twenty-five graduates wilt receive
their diplomas. Hon. William H. How
ard, of Augusta, will deliver the lit
erary address. The baccalaureate ad
dress will be delivered by Rev. O. P.
Gilbert, of the First Baptist church.

Over five hundred people gathered

Chas. E. Dryden, of the city and coun

were presented to the ten graduates
by Supt. Dryden, while President
Wood handed out certificates for per

Supt. Dryden made appropriate and
appreciated remarks, as also did Prof.

Prof. Fisher, of the institution which
is sending out those who closed their
school work yesterday, made an ad

Mr, Crine is essentially a farmer,
having, devoted his life to agricultural
pursuits and has been highly success
ful. Since becoming a citizen of Glynn,
Mr. Crine, more than an yother agri
culturist, perhaps, has demonstrated
the possibilities of the soil of this
county, as well as its possibilities in
cattle and poultry raising. He is a
practical farmer and is well conver
sant on the needs of the farmer from
every angle, having made a special
study of conditions as they exist in

The announcement that his friends
have prevailed upon him to become a

the county, is being received in every
