! Atlanta, Ga., Oct. 24.—A suit was
' filed by Mrs. Beulah Barrel', 127
! Walker street, through her attorney,
! Lowndes Calhoun, in superior court,
j against Rev. J. J. Pharr, a Baptist
| minister. The suit named $5,000 as
j the amount th e plaintiff was dam
aged by a remark alleged to have
j been made by the defendant, anil
I slander was changed.
According to-; the hill of complaint
a Mrs. Cox, of 182 Kelson 1 street,
the mother cf a Mrs. Hill of the same
address, and Mrs. Hill and the plain
tiff are neighbors and friends. The
complaint goes or. to state that Mr.
Pharr is a preacher in whose words
the neighborhood places great faith
wherefore when Mr. Pharr, is al
leged to hav e told Mrs. Cox that he
wus sorry to see Mrs. Hill at. the
; home of Mrs. Barrer, the neighbnr
j hood sat up and took notice..
When asked by /Mrs. ‘Bill' why he
wa s sorry to see her niak'ng these
visits, the minister is quoted as
saying, “I am sorry to see Sister
Hill down at Mi's. Barrier’s because
she,is not a lady and is living with
j two men who are her husbands.”
i It has not been stated just how the
j minister figured both as husbands
under prevailing'.Georgia laws. No
matter, the remark was - repeated to

sas half brothers, met for the first
time in forty years, when they were
both placed in the same cell in the
county, jail here. Both were under
arres t on liquor charges.
