“ARE YOU A WELL DRESSED WOMAN*
Do you study yourself? Do you study the style you
should wear?
We are judging largely by our Hats.
Every successful woman knows what the right Hat
means. Fortunately it is not a mere matter of spend
ing money; many a woman who dresses in perfect
taste does not spend large sums of money. What she
does spend is care and thought, in choosing the right
sort of Hat. To do that successfully one must go
where hats of individuality and style are to be had—
minus excessive prices.

HOW A LITTTLE GIRL DANCED
Oh, Cabaret dancer, I know a dancer
Whose eyes have not looked on the
feasts that are vain.
I know a dancer, I know a dancer,
Whose soul has no bond with the
beasts of the plain:
Judith the dancer, Judith the dancer,
With foot like the snow and with step
like the rain.
Oil. thrice painted dancer, vaudeville
dancer,
Sad in your spangles, with soul all
astrain;
I know a dancer, I know a dancer,
Whose laughter and weeping are
spiritual gain;
A pure-hearted, high-hearted maiden
evangel f
With strength the dark cynical earth
to disdain.
Flowers off, bright Broadway! You
of the chorus
Who sing in the hope of forgetting
your pain:
I turn to a sister of sainted Cecelia.
A white bird escaping the earth’s
tangled skein!
i The music of God in her innermost
brooding!
\ The whispering angels her footsteps
sustain!
Oh, Proud Russian dancer, praise for
your dancing!
No clean human Passion my rhyme
would arraign.
You dance for Apollo with noble de
votion.
—Nicholas Vachel Lindsay.

NEW HELPS—NEW INTEREST
Every mother knows the magic
of anew toy—knows how the toy
that possesses new and untri, '
possibilities keeps the child’s at
tention and makes play time pass
without complaint.
Doesn’t the same thing hold true
with other folk?
Isn’t it often true that anew
device for doing housework, anew
cooking utensil, will ■ometimes
prove worth many times its origin
al cost because of the sff- ulus it
gives the worker?
Sometimes when the housewife
feels at the end of her rope, when
she comes to the point where she
is going to announce to her fam
ily that they will have to dig up a
boarding place or get a house
keeper, at such times there is noth
ing that does so much to clear the
the atmosphere as anew toy.
Take the fireless cooker, for in
stance. True, it is an expensive
toy, but it has been known to do
much more than save fuel „nd pro
vide a good way of cook' inex
pensive meats and tough vegetables.
Before now housewives have start
ed in with anew enthusiasm for
cooking. They had got weary of
the rut of the old time cookin'*.
But with the fireless cooker recipe
book in hand they have been able
to devise new and interesting
dishes in anew way.
Ail the new devices of cookery
have this advantage, even though
they do not prove to have the last
ing value of a fireless cooker. You
may not have continued using pa
per bags long, but doubtless while
you used them they mad,, cookin-;
an interesting diversion rather than
a monotonous drudgery.
