BELATED COLD WAVE
CAME EARLY SUNDAY.
While it was more than two days
reaching here, the belated cold wave
came on Sunday and yesterday it
"as rat cold and everybody remained
today and it may rain some.

The many friends of Franklin Aiken
will be pleased to know that he is do
ing nicely, following f an operation
yesterday at the city hospital for ap
pendicitis. A quick recovery is hoped
for him.
MUNICIPAL BAND TO
PRACTICE TONIGHT.
Leader Fennell requests all mem
bers of the Municipal Band to be on
hand at. tile practice tonight. Monday
night is the regular time blit it was
postponed on account of several
members having engagements to at
tend the theatre.

BUSH ROW PREDOMINATED '
AT YESTERDAY’S COURT.
Judge Dart had a lively session of
the police court yesterday and some
thing like twenty cases were disposed
of. A number of these came from a
rough house down that way Saturday
night which both white and colored
men and two colored women partici
pated. Chief. Register, Lteut. Slaugh
ahd Officer Pope reached the scene
and returned with all combatants.
The highest fine was sls and this
went to an old offender.

FLANDERS SUNDAY. !
Tht funeral of T. W. Handers w as
held on Sunday afternoon, Rev. Wil
lian Johnson, of St. Marks Episcopal
church officiating and many friends
of this well known citizen were pres
ent to pay their last respects to him.
Interment was hi the family lot in
Oak Grove cemetery and many beau
tiful floral sent by friends
attested the high wfeteem in which
the deceased was held.
