FINISHING TOUGKES
ON HIGHWAY BONDS
Signed by Chairman Stephens
and Clerk Townsend of Coun
ty Board and Clerk du Bignon
of Superior Court.
AH legal formalities In connection
with the issuance and sale of Glynn
county’s $175,000 issuance of bonds
for the purpose of supplying its
share of the funds required for the
bridge which will connect Brunswick
with the queen of the south Atlantic
island, ended yesterday -when ehe
signature s of Chairman Stephen s and
Clerk Townsend, of the Glynn county
commissioners, were affixed to the
bond K together with Clerk Harry F.
du BiAon, of Glynn superior court,
and tIA action makes the amount
the Gllnn securities brought $179-
128, aipilable at almost any time
and sam e may be said of the
$175,000 highway and $50,000 sewer
age bond sale totals of the city.
Many favorable comments were
heard yesterday as to the excellent
figures local securities brought and
especially is this true of the fine
price th e city bonds were sold for and
the further fact that these, amount
ing to $255,000 were purchased by
the Brunswick Bank & Trust com
pany, a local institution and In this
connection it may be stated that the
bond s could have been sold within
one hour after purchasing by the bank
at a real good profit.
The number of bidders and the ex
cellent figures offered show that, both
the city of Brunswick and the coun
ty of Glyhn have excellent credit and
also that the bond market i s on the
upgrade, „ot only as to the
in this community but also in other
places in Georgia.

It will be a source of great pleasure j
to commercial Brunswick, and espec-;
ially those interested in port’s foreign j
.and domestic business, to know that
Oscar C. Jonannesen, will known
young Brunswickian, has been named
as official port statistician by the
Brunswick Board of Trade, and Young
Men’s dub and will begin to function
in bis important position on the first
of the coming year. It will be remem
bered that Mr. Jonnsee’s father, the
late CaPt. Otto Johannecen, was Port
statistician for many years and was
also marine reporter for a number
of including the New
York Herald, a Paper noted for its
attention to matters of marine na
ture.
The fact that Brunswick has not
kept an accurate account of it com
merce on the river front for many
yeans is to regretted as complete
statements of business would have
been an excellent advertlsenmt, and
especially is this true recently when
liusjnegfj has become like the davs of
the long that wag this way for
a long period before the recent war.
In connexion with the naming of
the port statistician, it may be stated
that Mr. Jonancsson Is serving with
out compensation and that this work
will prove of great value to Bruns
