Compson and Conway Tearle featured
in the leading roles.

of Prime Minister, is the victim of
a plot bp one of his enemies, the own¬

politics, grant his fickkie wife the
divorce she has long demanded, and
marry little Lola de Broze (Betty
Compson), a smart hair-dresser, with
whom he has fallen in love. For herj
part, Lola worships Fa laray. but will
not consent to his forsaking his coun¬

PREMIER DECLINES TO
NAME WOMAN DELEGATE
TO LEAGUE OF NATIONS
(By Associated Press.)
Melbourne, May 24.—A delegation
of the representatives of the Austral¬
ian National Council of Women have
petitioned Prime Minister Bruce to
appoint a woman as one of the Aus
ralian delegates at the next meeting
of the League of Nations,’conferring j
upon her the same powers as upon
the men delegates. The delegation
further asked that she be Australian
born.
Mr. Bruce replied that he felt the
inpointment of a woman delegate at
the present time would not be a wise
action. Not that he thought it im
ossible for her to do the work just
as well as.-a ipan. He rather stressed
lie fact that the Council of Women
had not done as much as it could to
further the interests of the League
among the people of Australia.
He .said- that 'the people of Austra¬
lia did not understand the League nor
what its object was. The gcnetal im¬
pression was that it was composed of
a few philanthropists bent on solving
the world’s problems.
