^BRUNSWICK’S COLORED SCRAP-
4* IS TO MEET JAMAICA
KIi> IN ATLANTA
Atlanta, Sept. 1.—If Jamaica Kid is
only half the fighter it has been led to
believe he is, then the big fight pro¬
gram at the auditorium next Tuesday
night featuring the New York black
and the southern kingpin, Tiger Flow¬
ers, will be bristling with interest as
well as action.
Today there is no man
in the land more highly respected by
the ebony-hued exponents of the art
—including Panama Joe Cans, Kid
Norfolk, Bill Tate, Tut Jackson,
Georgy Godfrey, and all the rest. Ev
ery one except the fast-stepping, pow¬
erful Jamaica Kid is frank enough to
admit that Flowers will give them all
a test, that he is likely to be the col¬
ored champion within a short time.
Panama Cans only a few days ago
turned down flatly an offer to box
Miller’s protege in the semi-i.vindup of
the Dempsey-Firpo card.
This particular black fighter once
scored a knockout over Tiger in At¬
lanta, but in their next meeting the
foul, according to newspaper ac
counts. Walk, however, declined to

latter gave Gans a terrific lacing, and
accept the title won in that way.
Now Gans absolutely refuses to
huve anything more to do with Flow
ers.
In fact, Jamaica Kid, is about the
only big fellow in the ring today who
is willing to trade slams with him.
They have met twice, Jamaica stop
ping his man once in two rounds, and
losing the newspaper verdict in the
second time.
Jamaica, accompanied by the fa¬
mous Willie Gibbs, will arrive Satur¬
day in time to work out -with
hangers-on around the Miller gym at
29 1-2 Marietta street. The conscien¬
tious Flowers even new is skipping
through his daily sessions—for loom¬
ing for him are three big bouts in rap¬
id succession.
September 16, in Mexico City, he
lights Battling Norfolk, of New O Or- r .
leans, and September 21 at Juarez, he
clashes with the esteemed Jeff Smith,
of Bayonne, the man who was once
booked to appear in Atlanta.
-It is a wonderful opportunity now
^presenting itself for Tiger to broaden
his fame and replenish his bankroll.
A victory over Jamaica, followed
by others over Norfolk and Jeff Smith
would enhance his popularity and
drawing power tremendously.
But, first he must lick the hard
going Jamaica.
A number of local fight fans, both
white and colored, Mil leave here
morrow night to witness the bout.
