STREET DEPARTMENT
BUSY ON C STREET
The street department is improving
O street from Newcastle to Norwich,
the motor-scrape being used to even
up the surface and the big roller fol¬
lows to pack down the loosened dirt.
When completed tr^is thoroughfare
will be much more desirable for auto
ists than it has been heretofore, the
street being full of holes and slmall
trenches. The residents of G street
are overjoyed that they have a first
class road, all except the paving.
HUNDREDS VISIT ST. SIMON’S
HIGHWAY OPERATIONS
Hundreds of Brunswickians and
visitors spent the greater portion of
yesterday afternoon inspecting the
St. Simon’s Highway as far as the
work had been completed, that is, to
the Back river. Many exclamations
of surprise were heard as practically
none of the visitors had seen how far
the work had progressed and were
surprised that they could drive over
the highway as far as the river.
BODY OF M. K. EASON SENT
TO APPLING COUNTY
The remains of M. K. Eason, who
died Friday morning at his home on
Dec street, were sent to Appling coun¬
ty yesterday morning where burial
took place in the cemetery near Bax¬
ley. Mr. Eason, who was fifty-four
years of age, is survived by his wife
and seven children. He was a broth¬
er of Mrs. J. U. Tippins, of 405 G
street. Mr. Eason had been ill for
about two months, his death being
due to pneumonia. He was a popular
man, having many warm friends who
sincerely regret his passing.
BOYS FINED FOR
SHOOTING ON STREETS
Several boys were fined in the re¬
corder’s court this morning for shoot¬
ing cap pistols and blank cartridges
bn the streets, the fines ranging from

however,” said the chief this morn¬
ing, ‘‘so that they will know that it
is against the law to shoot within the
city limits, so that they may not be

of being ignorant of the ordinance.”
DE MOLAY BOYS HAVE
RETURNED TO SAVANNAH
Today’s Savannah News contains
the following in reference to the visit
of the DcMolays in Brunswick: “Aft¬
er being regally entertained in Bruns¬
wick during the week-end, where they
staged an investiture ceremony for
the Order of DeMolay, forty-five Ma¬
sons and members of Cecil Cheves
Chapter, Order of DeMolay for Boys,
returned to the city yesterday after¬
noon in automobiles. The Savannah
delegation spent the week-end in
Brunswick. Saturday night the cer¬
emonial work pvas staged, and after
the installation program refresh¬
ments were served to a large gather¬
ing. Past Grand Master N. H. Bal¬
lard, for whom the new chapter has
been named, was present and made a
very eloquent address. There were
addresses also from several other
prominent Masons.”
