Criticism That Failed.
I’ntil we read a card in the interest of a candi
date for legislative honors in the late primary we
had formed the opinion that tin* proverbial reputa
tion of the people of Savannah for loyally to (Jeorgia
and hospitality to friends was secure from attack
at least from any of our own number. Except for
the purpose of bolstering up a politician whose weak
ness at the polls compares favorably with Ids weak
ness at the head, there was no excuse whatever for
the accusation. The repudiation of the candidate
in whose interest the criticism was written indicates
very clearly that there is not much benetit to be
derived from tin 1 employment of falsehoods even in
partisan campaigns.
lit. 1 vcv. F. F. Reese, who is in poor health, leaves
Savannah in a few days for tin 1 Fast, having been
advised by Ids physician to take a rest for a month
or so. lie has for several years been confined to his
work very closely, and as a result finds his health
very much impaired, lie has not yet selected a
location, but it is thought he will take a sea voyage 1
to New York and go from then* to tin 1 Catskills or
up the coast of Maine.
